It is with profound regret that I share news of the passing of Lindsay McCabe, after a brief illness. Lindsay was a member of this Project’s advisory board and one of our strongest champions and supporters for years, time that allowed a deep friendship to evolve.
This picture is from a visit we made years ago to Washington DC, where we visited the offices of PBS NewsHour and with the late Jim Lehrer.
Lindsay was understated in demeanor, despite a linebacker frame. When he did chime in, it was after careful reflection. He was deeply convicted in his beliefs but at the same time a keen listener, prone to moderation in much of his approach to life. A holder of two graduate degrees and a teacher early in his career, Lindsay believed passionately in improving our system of education at all levels and was willing to embrace new ideas in this pursuit, a big reason he told me he supported the Under-Told Stories Project.
Most of all, I’ll remember—and deeply miss—his wry sense of humor, often self-deprecating.
Take a heavenly bow, my friend, and rest in peace.
